The history of the first Polish technical higher education institution began in 1919 when People’s Leading Council founded Higher State School of Mechanical Engineering. In 1921 in the “Wiadomości Techniczne” newspaper “Appeal to the Authorities to establish Poznań University of Technology” appeared. The document included the reasons for creation such type of school. Established in 1919, Higher State School of Mechanical Engineering was renamed Higher State School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and in 1930 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering began functioning.
