Appointed assistant, has worked at Poznan University of Technology since 2005. He has been appointed the head of Combustion Engines Laboratoty since 2006 and Dean's plenipotentiary for Scientific Circle at the Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). His field of expertise includes combustion engines and mechanics, SI engine combustion kinetics, thermal engine processes, alternative fueling, especially the influence of exhaust gas dissolved in diesel fuel on emissions.
Dr Bajerlein has lectured on combustion engines research, ecological aspects of combustion powertrain operation, direct injection SI engines, test stand devices and measurement methods, as well as combustion engine optimization. Dr Bajerlein has published numerous scientific papers and articles presented during various Polish and world's conferences, symposia and congresses on automotive research and development. Several times he has participated in FISITA conferences held in Europe, America and Asia with oral presentations of his latest research. He has regularly visited Detroit Auto-Moto Show in the US.
Dr Bajerlein belongs to a board of editors and contributes to a scientific Journal of Combustion Engines issued by PUT. Since 2010 Dr Bajerlein has coordinated an innovative project with Solaris Bus&Coach dedicated to hybrid and electric buses development. He also contributes to the European project on combustion engines carried out in Institute of Combustion Engines and Transport at PUT. Besides, he has obtained several grants to conduct R&D research on direct injection in SI engines. At present Dr Bajerlein holds a membership in the Polish Scientific Society of Combustion Engines. During his M.Sc. studies Dr Bajerlein was a fellow of the EU SOCRATES-ERASMUS scholarship program.
